Christian Bale? Assault? Yes, he's good at assault - as Gotham City's protector Batman, notably seen in Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" and, most recently, "The Dark Knight." Although the latter flick has shattered box office records held by the "Star Wars" and "Spider-Man" franchises, it is now garnering a reputation involving actors meeting trouble.Following the supposed incident at Park Lane's Dorchester Hotel where Christian was staying, his mother and sister brought the accusations to the Hampshire police station who referred it to the London police. The police held off on arresting him until today and although Bale remains in custody he has not been formally charged.A woman thought to be Bale's sister Sharon told reporters "it's a family matter" from her home in Corfe Mullen, 110 miles southwest of London. A man who answered the door at the home of Jenny Bale in nearby Bournemouth said she did not want to comment. The most shocking news that befell "Dark Knight" supporters was obviously the death of Heath Ledger, who brilliantly portrayed the Joker in the film opposite Bale's Batman. Ledger's performance did not fail to deliver to his moviegoers, even after his passing in January of this year. If anything, fans are now not only greatly appreciative of Ledger's energy and dedication in the film, but are now wondering, "Wow ... I wish there was a third Joker movie. How awesome would that be?" The reports surfaced just days after "The Dark Knight," which co-stars Heath Ledger as Batman's nemesis the Joker, took a record $158.4 million at the box office in its opening weekend. Ledger, who took the iconic villain to a deeply disturbed and diabolical place, died earlier this year of an accidental drug overdose in New York — a circumstance that has only added to the movie's brooding mystique. Bale is the youngest of four siblings, all sisters, and is the stepson of Gloria Steinem. Her assistant said Tuesday that author and feminist leader was at a writing retreat and unavailable for comment. Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale." The new Batman film, which contains the final complete performance by Heath Ledger, has already attracted huge interest after glowing reviews and a record opening weekend in the US . The 28-year-old Australian actor gave an Oscar-tipped performance as The Joker before he died from an accidental drugs overdose in January.
